Wow what a year! Who would have thought as we closed off 2019 what 2020 would hold for us all!
2020 started off like any other year at DB Philpott as the team headed into 2020 with enthusiasm and optimism. The rental market was starting to strengthen up as was the sales market. Then like every Australian we watched as the year started to change with COVID-19 pandemic.
As with all businesses South Australian the first shut down was an odd time as we were told to reduce numbers and social distance. At the same time the rental market was hitting its straps and it forced us cap numbers at opens inspections.
Fortunately, as an agency we had been proactive in our client systems and had for some time registered attendees at open inspections on a central database. Whilst the industry was scrambling to get their head around the changes the process was simple change to office protocol. We embraced video tours of property which made it easier for the people to view property and address COVID sensitivities.
We now have over 80,000 people on our client databases. This database allows for tenant and buyer matching and made the leasing and sale of property somewhat pandemic proof. With great communication tools and tracing tools of visitors we were well placed in 2020.
As of today, we have adopted property specific QR codes specific to your property together with our normal registration process.
If you asked us at the start of 2020 what the year would end up like I would have told you something very different to our current reality. As of today, we still assess tenant applications with COVID-19 hardship in mind, are assisting landlord’s budget, and are working with tenant in ongoing hardship complications.
The sale market is very strong due largely to a third reduction in available stock. A good example is our final auction of the year last Saturday being a two-bedroom home at 31 Mann Tce North Adelaide with 7 registered bidders and 4 active bidders and a sale price above reserve of $1,130,000.
As we look back upon the past year, we would like to acknowledge our clients and customers who have continued to support our business throughout a most challenging year.
I think it is fair to say that most of us will remember 2020 and look forward to closing the chapter on the year while hoping for a brighter 2021.
We are humbled by the support you have shown us and all the team at DB Philpott send our very warmest wishes for Christmas and 2021.
Thank you for your ongoing support!
